Intensive Moscow's Attacks Disrupt Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with disruption to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has intensified attacks on energy facilities over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering air defence systems and implementing restrictions," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from local officials.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A minor lost their life and three other people were injured.

The assaults succeed periods of air raids in the area, sections of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the country's energy grid, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and government agencies were preparing for additional strikes.
