19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since spring of that year.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional championship, took control to create a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
