The Gaming Giant Hires Popular Battle Royale Lead to Rescue Struggling Action Game Project Ethos

2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.

Leadership Transition Comes After Poor Feedback

The new appointee steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing initial reveal last fall.

On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer notified employees about this decision through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had indicated the need for a clearer direction.

Ismailer stated that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to better meet community desires.

Trend of Strategic Recruitment

This announcement echoes a similar action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the beloved franchise development group.

Below is the full content from the president's memo:
